    Description

1926 TB-4 “ball-bearing” Mastertone 5-string conversion. The earliest Mastertones from 1925-27 had the “ball-bearing” pot assembly. This banjo still has the complete assembly; ball-bearings, springs, washers, tonering, skirt and all. It’s currently set up with a Renaissance head.

The neck is a maple five-string build, we have no idea who made it, but they did a nice job. (it’s old, been in this banjo at least 35-40 years) It was refretted with stainless steel wire a few years ago by Ward Elliott in Riner, Virginia.

The resonator is a double-bound Style 1 with a different FON inside from 1931, so not original to the pot. It’s also been on this banjo for at least 35-40 years. It matches the neck well, and has some buckle wear. The resonator wall lugs and hex bolts are original 1926 issue.

    Comes with a fiberglass case.
