Meet our current teacher-

Grant King

“Grant King is a guitarist and bassist with a diverse performance background spanning Jazz, Bluegrass, and contemporary styles. He began performing live around age 15 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, quickly gaining stage experience in the region’s vibrant music scene. At the age of 19, he played extensively at the world-famous Bowery where he honed his pedal steel chops. In his early twenties he played throughout North and South Carolina with several acts, developing a strong foundation in live country performance.
During this time he studied jazz at Coastal Carolina University under renowned bassist Steve Bailey. While in the program, he performed regularly alongside fellow students and faculty, honing his skills on both guitar and bass through live jazz performance and collaborative ensemble work.
He later relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he spent two years playing bass in several bluegrass bands, further expanding his versatility and deepening his roots in American traditional music.
Now based in Roanoke, Virginia, he brings years of real-world performance experience and multi-genre expertise to his role as an instructor at The Fret Mill, where he is passionate about helping students grow as confident, creative musicians.”
