Description
This is a rare antique classical guitar hand made by the famous luthier Salvador Ibanez in the early 20th century in Valancia, Spain. Because he was so well renowned, the Japanese company Hoshino later bought the rights to his name to create the well known brand Ibanez. The sound is much louder and fuller than one might expect. The body is slightly smaller than most, but it still has a full 25.5” scale with the traditional 2” nut width. Because it is so old, it is remarkably lightweight.
This particular guitar is made with a solid Spruce top, with solid Brazillian Rosewood back and sides. The neck is likely Spanish Cedar, with a Brazillian Rosewood fretboard with pearl (or mother of pearl) inlay throughout.
The previous owned said it was brought over from France in the 40’s, at which time it hung up as a wall decoration for about 75 years. About 8 years ago, restorations were done which included a refret, bridge reglue, cleaning and thorough inspection.
Included is a non-original vintage hard case likely from the 60’s.
